Christmas Chaos and Holiday Happiness

They came by air, car and bus to be with their dad for his last Christmas. They sacrificed time, money and other extended family time to be with us and we are so grateful that we had them all with us over the holidays. How blessed we are to have such wonderful children (and that includes our amazing in-law kids as well!) and grandchildren!!
Christmas was rather unique this year. All of our family came home to be with Doyle. It was a wonderful experience, albeit much work and a few tears. This is our traditional "stair" picture, but we are missing 4 of the grandchildren who spent Christmas day elsewhere.  Julian, Levi, Ty and Lael caught up with us by the 27th, so we had 27 people running around our house!

Noble nearly got stuck in Seattle as the Cascade pass was closed, but changing his flight to Spokane made all the difference! Julian is 7 now and flew from Portland to Spokane to meet Noble all by himself...he thought that was great!
Caleb is is helping grandpa read a book!
It took too long of course but we each watched as a new present was opened. The little ones were amazingly patient and polite!
Dan thought he would show Cosi how to wear a princess crown....nice!
Can't remember our living room ever being so crowded, but it was such a delight watching the kids - big and small!
Our three little 2 year old monkeys had a fun time together. What one would do, all would do, so we had some fun and interesting moments.
Our nativity went off without a hitch. Even baby Jesus (6month old Amaia) was perfect. We had shepherds, kings, and even a sheep and a cow!
Here we are at the full 27! A great bunch that we love too much!!!
Autumn worked tirelessly in putting together a book for Doyle entitled, "The Life of Doyle H. Brown as seen through the eyes of his children"
Each sibling wrote a few remembrances of their dad along with some pictures. It was very touching!

Sunday evening we had a Family Home Evening with everyone there and grandpa spoke to the little ones and then to the adults. He explained what will happen and where he will be when his spirit leaves his body. Our home was filled with love and concern and Doyle said hands down it was the best Christmas ever.
Our farewells were tearful and now the house is too quiet, but our memories and the love we have for each other sustains us!
Here is hoping that your Christmas was meaningful and that 2016 will be a joyous year!
